Bid or buy is a scam please dont use this platform

Piede 5275

I bought a Canon lens on bid or buy and was sold a broken lens. There is no return functionality on the bid or buy website. The website was quick to take my money. It is a total scam.

The best thing would be to try and contact the seller to arrange a return or a refund with them. I'm sure they will be willing to help you. Remember the reputation of bid or buy is only as good as the individual buyers and sellers make it to be, as you are not buying from bid or buy as such, but from the user who sold the item to you. There is also the buyer protection programme which may be of help to you.

This was resolved in a couple of days. We exchanged another lens with buyer which also didn't work and We later found that the lens was not compatible with mount. We refunded buyer in full.

We pasted the communication below to justify what we are talking about.

 

However We did pay courier both ways to send and collect and paid Bidorbuy commissions and our SNC was rejected - as usual it's always SELLERS FAULT. We lost round about R 500 in total with fees & courier fee

A quick update, after this post and further followup - SNC was concluded and I got the fees refunded.

 

Only loss was courier fee.

If I was this buyer I would have offered to reimburse you for the courier fees you incurred as it wasn't your fault. It is a bitter pill to swallow when Bid or Buy instructs you to exchange the "faulty" item but not hold the buyer responsible for the extra fees you incurred due to their negligence.

Thank you for your concern. @Seeds and All Many first time buyers are skeptical thinking they are scammed when something goes wrong. The buyer was very co-operative later on I have no issues with them at all.

As a long time seller we are willing to loose to monies to keep buyers happy. But, Lately bidorbuy reverses many SNCs due to no fault of seller, this is the worry and many customer care reps seems new as well.

Yes, I have always found that BoB is fair when presented with facts.

Very disappointed in Bidorbuy for the way they handled a problem I had with them which was out of my control. 

They were completely at fault.

Bidorbuy has become totally impersonal and I do understand that it is difficult to handle a big commerce business and deal with everyone's queries but when a call center staff member is incompetent and does not understand exactly  the problem that arose and I get ignored it makes me wonder whether loyalty and the good reputation I have built over the last 13years has been worth it
