One Shilling Token: New Gordon Diamond Mining Company (Kimberley circa 1890)

According to Hern’s Handbook on South African Tokens, a Gordon Half Crown (2/6-) token exists with a “U” counter stamp which may be unique.

This Gordon Shilling token also have the “U” counter stamp.

Is this the way that they were issued or is this Shilling also unique?

Hi  Pierre and cjriller       I have a >   2/6 GORDON  > coin but,  being 60 + young I don't know how to upload the photo onto the site ? - interesting > Flip side a " U "     unique coin as was said.  It is advertised on the site and is available until  23:45 tonight. or next week again

I will bid on the token and resell it for you - you cannot list a scarce token like that without a proper description and picture and listing enhancements.

I see that I have won it for 1c - be careful selling scarce items like that without proper knowledge, I will email you and please remember to delete the second listing - you have listed the token again.

Hi Pierre. It is rare but definitely not unique. I bought one on BoB in January 2019, and know other collectors who also have one.

We think the token may have been later used at the United Diamond Mining Co (also in Kimberley) and hence the "U" counterstamp.
