Kaal Kruger Penny

Good Day Everybody - I have quite a lot of old Kruger Coins mainly pennies and sixpenses and a couple of tickeys that belonged to my late Grandfather who was a teenager during the Boer War including two blanks which may or may not be what was known as the 1900 Kaal Kruger Pennies. As I am not a coin expert and they seem to be extremely collectable can anyone point me in the right direction where one would be able to authenticate them. Many thanks to anybody that can help.

I see you are in Margate/Port Shepstone. Why don't you bring it to the coin show this Sunday at the South Coast Casino?

There will be a lot of dealers that can authenticate them, or you can ask SANGS to grade them for you?

I will also be in Durban Saturday and Sunday if you need any help,

Sorry Pierre, not trying to overstep.

A big thank you to Pierre_Henri for taking the trouble to help me and those that messaged by private message. They appear to be genuine and I will now go through the process to try and have the authenticated when I am in the city again.

The Wobble Test ...

This is actually very funny - I send Queen of Hearts the following message

The Kaalpennies look as if they are authentic.

There is a "test" that you can do.

Put the Kaal penny on a hard flat surface and tap it lightly on the one side. It should wobble slightly as the coins are not 100% flat. Test any other penny and if the Kaalpenny differs by slightly wobbling then it is indeed authentic.

Regards

Pierre

She came back with the following reply ...

They wobble whoohoo ...!!!

And I'm still smiling Pierre as the other half in this house said what you want to do with those worthless blank coins - throw the rubbish out
