It's A Bird... It's A Plane... It's Thundersnow

Thundersnow is an unusual kind of thunderstorm with snow falling as the primary precipitation instead of rain and caused by extreme temperature differences.

The thunder from a typical thunderstorm can be heard many miles away, while the thunder from thundersnow can usually only be heard within a two to three mile radius from the lightning due to the snow acting as a sound dampener.

6500+ flights cancelled; schools / businesses closed; roads / interstates blocked.... (Sure glad the last one and this one 'went around' us. Colder than an Ex Mother-in-Law's stare, but no snow.)

Wow Ruthie and we are all baking down here ! See Cape Town has had highs all week and expecting a 41C for Sunday - yikes ! So I suppose it will move up the coast so we will be having more hot weather this weekend & beyond ! This morning thus far is warm damp & muggy and still overcast from yesterdays light showers but that will probably change during the course of the morning !

Would much rather 'shake 'n bake' than 'freeze 'n sneeze'. Can't wait for wife beaters / boy shorts weather.
