Huge jump in bid

Hi there

I am relatively new - is it normal for a buyer to just bid several hundred rand higher than the last bidder? I was tracking an item with R100 bid increments, and the highest bid was R101, and next thing someone bid R500? Does this happen a lot? surely the buyer would enter the R500 in the "maximum amount to bid" section once the bid was placed?

Hi Caro972,

 

I am sure that is exactly what happened. moecaj must have entered R500 as an auto bid and when Tamea put in a bid, the auto bid function came into play.
