voldermort 11 Posted February 12, 2013 So Dimitri was doing something on his pc and it just suddenly cut out. After repeated attempts to get it back on, none of which worked as it would power up for a few seconds then cut out again - I remember somebody once telling me if this happened to power it on & continually press F8 whilst it was rebooting - which I did & it worked and now I am a hero here  however does anybody know what this is or what causes it? Vinyl Lady Decals 11 Posted February 12, 2013 I asked a friend about this. this is her answer: F8 goes into the Boot record (startup area) of the PC. She thinks there is a possibility that part of the portion of the hard drive that the boot record sits on has become corrupt. Almost like a CD that is scratched or has dirt on it. She recommends that you run a checkdisk with automatic fix enabled and defragment the hard drive which should help to get rid of this.
