January 16, Germany’s central bank made a startling announcement. It asked for the return of gold stored in America and France. Six hundred and seventy-four gleaming tonnes will be relocated to vaults in Frankfurt.

This is old news. I read about this months ago that this was likely to happen.

The most interesting part is the fact that America obviously does not have the gold, and will therefor give it back bit by bit over 5+ years! It seems that the gold must first be bought on the open market at the going rate before it can be returned. Is it thus correct to assume that America stole the German gold?

Maybe and maybe not.

 

Somewhere I heard another story that Saudi Arabia requested a return of their silver from the Bank of England and that it did in fact have to be bought on the open market because the BOE had loaned it, probably by selling options. This was several years ago and not recently.

 

I have read and heard many SECOND hand reports that the gold reserves of the United States are either not there or do not actually exist. But there is no conclusive method to prove it one way or another since neither the Federal Reserve or US Treasury will make a public disclosure.
