She cut her hand very badly on a glass and is in considerable pain. Damaged nerves and a plastic surgeon had to operate on her this week-end. Her hand is dreadfully swollen and painful.

Keep her close in thought and prayer. Why do bad things happen to good people?

I know only too well these hand injuries with nerve damage. Poor Miss Jewels - hope she is feeling less pain and I am thinking of her. She MUST not get frustrated as these sorts of injuries take a long time to heal - but they do heal and here's hoping for some quick healin'! xxx

Miss Jewels' injury is pretty serious! She is still in pain. Unfortunately it's her right hand and she is right-handed!

Luckily she has a superb secretary and a family who are helping her but she still is in severe pain.

Ooooh, I know how that is, dear, my little finger still hasn't got all the feeling back, many years later. But it's not a train smash, everything works!

Rest that hand, please! And get someone to buy you a battery-operated toothbrush so you can brush your teeth without also brushing your nose, chin and ears! Lots of love, get better soon!!!

Polysterene glasses/cups would be much safer than plastic Alloway

Hi all. Thank you so much for the well wishes. Still very emotional from reading them. Currently my index and middle finger are without feeling due to the injury. A heavy beer glass broke on my counter top and fell off onto my hand. It sliced through my palm severing an artery, veins, muscles, tissue and nerves. I kept a clear head and asked for a plastic surgeon as soon as I got to the hospital which probably saved me from possibly further injuries.

The artery had to be clamped off as we all know where what squirsts to....

I didn't see chance to wait the 4 hours before surgery (I has something to eat shortly before it happened) so asked them to fix my hand immediately. A few local injections later I had a very sexy plastic surgeon repairing the damage,

He mentioned that the glass had missed some tendons by mm's, so I can actually be lucky with the damage to the hand as I could have lost the full use of all fingers if the tendons had been severed.

Due to the injury, my middle finger is now "claw-like" with the index finger wanting to follow the same route.

I will be gettimg intense physio and also will have to wear a brace to pull the fingers back up again, but I am staying positive.

It's a bit of an adjustment woking with the left hand but I am managing slowly. I believe if I do things myself, however slow, it will help the healing process.

I am resting the hand as much as possible and am positive for a full recovery.

Once again, thank you all so very much!

Regards, Cheryl
