some fishy bidding - up to autobid rapidly then deleted

I have a bid on a R1 auction today with an auto bid up to a couple hundred rand. All of a sudden I get mailed someone bidding against. No issues there. I get like 5 mails within the spate of a few seconds until just after my auto bid. Then immediately following that without barely a minute gap, these bids get deleted and it's back down to my R1 bid. I don't like to be suspicious and I can't see who bid against me but it was obviously 1 person, so it might just have been that this bidder was a bad buyer and the person whose auction it was saw it immediately and deleted all the bids...but I am unfortunately a suspicious person..seemed to me like someone was "testing" the waters so see how much my auto bid was in for...

Not going to mention names...just wonder if anyone else has ever had this?
