Jongleur 10 Posted July 29, 2012 Could anyone assist me with these 1 pound 1959 coins. They weigh 10 grams, 22 mm diameter and 3 mm thick. Silver or nickel? Are they scarce/worthless?
JohnBenn 12 Posted July 29, 2012 I'm not sure Len,but 10 years ago (when I lived in London) these were still in circulation. The dates might have been a bit later but not much 1960-70.
Little Miss Muffet 93 Posted July 30, 2012 Look at the coin more closely. It is the pattern of the 1980's.It is 1989 not 1959. Pounds in 1959 were banknotes. It is,I think, still current. They are nickel. How many do you have?? I will buy them at R8 each.

He says he can bring more of these pounds so I will try and keep some for you.
