Can anybody tell me about golden retriever health problems?

Hello, I'm looking at adopting a lab golden retriever mix from an animal shelter. I've heard they are great dogs, but can be prone to health problems. I've also read only to adopt a golden retriever if the parents are available to view. Can anybody tell me what my concerns should be, and their thoughts on adopting a golden retriever?

I have two golden labradors and they are the most placid and lovable animals. The problems I have with the one is a very sensitive skin and the other one has hip problems. Hip dysplasia is a general problem with larger animals but can be kept under control with medication and the correct diet. These animals also adjust to family very quickly and are also excellent with children
