BoB Advertising

Recommended Posts

Fashion Police

I try to place BoB ads at least once or (hopefully) twice a month under 'clothing, shoes & accessories' category. I didn't place an add this week as I was planning on bidding on an ad for next week. I normally try my bids between the "Fashion" or "Search Pages" auctions - however, my first priority is always with the Fashion category since it's what I specialise in. I was very disappointed to see that I was outbid JUST BEFORE the auction closed (I sleep at 23:00 at night). I regretted not appplying an automatic bid (which I nomally do, since the same user outbids me everytime). Didn't see this one coming though, 'thought they'd give someone else a chance since they don't even sell clothing.

I had a look at the recent sold ads and noticed 90% of them were won by the same user. In my personal opinion I don't think this is fair. Other users should also have an opportunity to have ads featured for more exposure to their stores and/or listings - but are currently being blocked because not everyone can afford to spend est. R1000 a week on advertising. It's anyway overexposed for just one user, and buyers get bored of seeing the same name / ad on each and every page & category they browse. BoB has other sellers as well. I think that a maximum of 3 ads / winnings should be allowed per seller?

I'm willing to pay for my ads, but am definitely not going to stay awake until 23:00 for the auction to close.

Hi,

We dont all have the privilege of featuring on the home page "deal of the week" every week so some of us have to pay there is no other option.

And what gives you the impression that you nor any other users don't have the "privilege"? Have you actually thought of approaching BoB with suggestions or ideas to feature your products?

In turn I actually do pay for my Deal of the week listings by moving large quantities 85% of the time and by paying success fees. I think for now reserve your bitter comment, it's irrelevant.

hi, no bitter comments! Not sure why you would have to say or think that? Just stating the facts, some of us only have the option to buy advertising and so have to at every opportunity!

Hello Jewellery Mall

You can contact BoB to get your listings onto the Deal of the Week, they will help you to do it, but it has to go through them.

My apologies, I took it up the wrong way (as I list weekly on DOTW). Fact is, any seller with a high rating score and/or good reputation, who can offer a well priced product in a good quantity can list on DOTW. Your watches will do very well for example (if you're prepared to cut back a bit).

The point I was trying to make (not speaking only on my behalf, but all sellers) - is that if one user buys almost all the ads weekly, this blocks other sellers the opportunity of advertising in their categories. It's just my opinion, but I think ads should be limited per user (lets say no more that 3 per seller weekly). Secondly, seeing the same ad on every page becomes boring and eventually the ads go unnoticed. I just think a bigger variety of ads and/or sellers should be more exposed to keep the excitement going. But like I said, that's just my opinion.

Surely if you buy advertising in the fashion category for example you have to advertise something in that category?
