Hi Mac

Sleep might be an option. Or drinking. We will probably do both in no particular order once tonight's work is done ;-)

Just read a notification at the cafe - our electricity is out next Sunday too. Not good in this cold weather.

We have been lucky in Randburg for the last couple of years....but just had my generator serviced.......just in case!

Had part of our house rewired a couple of years ago, to run off the generator, so life does not come to a complete standstill when we have no power.

We also did the same - makes a huge difference - nothing like waking up in the morning being unable to make a cuppa and worst of all walking around with a head of wet hair in the middle of winter!

Also if you have a borehole and the town runs out of water, switch off the water mains - plug the hosepipe from the borehole into the nearest garden tap - if your borehole pressure is good you can continue as per normal - just wouldn't advise drinking it though!

Like most people we start the day with a coffee....without it ug!!!

Bore holes to my understanding are banned in suburbia these days. Water supply at the moment we don't really have a problem with.

What a boon solar heating for the geyser is...saves a fortune in electricity and one always has hot water unless we have a day or two where it is completely overcast.

Fortunately where we are boreholes are still fine - our groundwater is very good and pressure excellent! Recently the municipality was battling to supply parts of the town - nine of the big municipal boreholes had suffered as a result of cable theft. Those of us who could were able to take pressure off the town supply for a week or so until everything was repaired. At the moment watering of gardens is only allowed if we have a borehole and a sign must be displayed at the entrance to the property to this effect.
