Have a look at "Murano" glass items on google, Bob or ebay. Very popular items. Perhaps you can google the name on the item if it has one.

oaks and acorns 10 Posted May 12, 2012 Seems like fine craftsmanship indeed, what is shown of it. Does your camera only do head shots?
mrmouse 11 Posted May 12, 2012 there should be 3 other photos on the listing , designed to make you lie on the floor or turn your monitor .
oaks and acorns 10 Posted May 12, 2012 Ooops, forgot to turn the picture thingie on. And foiled your design, only needed to tilt the head slightly. But hey, also get to repeat myself now... fine craftsmanship! Is it a murano? Looks like it may be... would bulk your listing up nicely if you could provide history and origin, etc.
mrmouse 11 Posted May 12, 2012 I presume it is ,but cant state it as such ,it was apparently acquired in Spain in 1973 odd , and is apparently hand made , i cannot vouch for it , it is a solid piece of glass though .

Little Miss Muffet 39 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) Very Nice Rooster mrmouse! Venetian Glass made in Murano Italy.....? If we compare the base of these Murano chickens to the base, mouth and feathers of the one in question it is obvious that this is (Sorry) a crude copy of Murano glass. The thickness, especially of the feathers is obvious. Here is an example for 30 dollars on shopwiki.com Edited May 14, 2012 by geewhizz
