lawrencerd 10 Posted May 9, 2012 I am stunned - at a complete loss for words - and I don't normally comment on other's pricing. But this, I have to ask whether anyone would be so stupid to pay these prices? Well I suppose at least it makes the rest of us look like a bargain basement. MsPlod 11 Posted May 10, 2012 Suspect they smoked whatever was in it first - seriously strong socks - then added a few zeros to the price because they looked "so like nice like and like round like...wowww amazing!!" LOL! Incidentally - I have one of those (almost exact same) cigarette cases - maybe I should offer it to the trader for a bargain price of R2,500 - hah hah hah! oaks and acorns 10 Posted May 10, 2012 (edited) Yup, saw the shipping. And nope, the lion is passant. http://www.silvercollection.it/chester510bis.jpg the F would have it as 1906, so why ff? Edited May 10, 2012 by oaks and acorns
lilythepink 11 Posted May 10, 2012 f***ing frightful perhaps?
lawrencerd 10 Posted May 10, 2012 Definitely think some good old DP has ended up in East London on this one - and yes I know I have sold some pretty peculiar things, but never a rusty dustpan. As for the those postage charges, well i have a nick name for the seller - it involves stinging postage and ec nettle... but each to their own
Little Miss Muffet 81 Posted May 10, 2012 Yup, saw the shipping. And nope, the lion is passant. http://www.silvercollection.it/chester510bis.jpg the F would have it as 1906, so why ff? The ff is a slip of the finger. The price must be too. Totally over the top. These cigarette cases even hallmarked were lucky to fetch R100 a number of years ago and were not sought after.\ When the price of silver rose they now fetch prices at least at scrap value. The first one is worth approx R800 scrap at today's price of R6.20 gram and I always scrap them unless they are unique with an Art Nouveau design etc.
oaks and acorns 10 Posted May 11, 2012 Definitely think some good old DP has ended up in East London on this one ... but each to their own Yup, a classic example of what happens when the wrong people get to partake of the right stuff. ~shrug, whatever~
oaks and acorns 10 Posted May 11, 2012 The ff is a slip of the finger. Haha, nope actually... read somewhere yesterday that ff could be the (unidentified) manufacturer's code and if so, would have been made in birmingham (but no doubt I have that wrong). The price must be too. Totally over the top. Not surprisingly, that was the last thing of interest to me :amuse:
