Your butter knife is British made, In Birmingham. It was made between 1880 and 1920. The fg&s stands for Frank Gardiner and sons (the maker) . NS stands for New silver, Nevada silver or Nickel Silver. It is a process whereby a base metal (usually a copper or brass alloy is electroplated (coated) with a thin layer of silver. This item is not solid silver. I don't know the exact condition , so it is difficult to value. It is more valuable in a set. Your knife is worth at most R120.00 but it is by no means definate.
