lilythepink 11 Posted April 5, 2012 Is this seller shipping elephants perhaps?
mellowred 10 Posted April 5, 2012 I don't agree that this is excessive. He is sending via Speed Services and his ratings show that his delivery time is fast. With petrol costs as they are, getting in your car and driving around Pretoria and then having to park (and pay?) could be expensive. As for the cash handling fee - he still has to deposit the cash to his bank account. So maybe a bit high, but not excessive. My 10c worth.
ATOMICSQUIRREL 10 Posted April 5, 2012 That's true mellow but he charges R35 to collect and R35 delivered...? Let him deliver the parcel!!!
voldermort 11 Posted April 5, 2012 Wow, unless I woke up on the stooopid side of the bed this morning the collection & COD fees would mean that if you opt to collect & pay at the same time that will set you back all of R70.00?? :wtf:
MsPlod 11 Posted April 5, 2012 That's true mellow but he charges R35 to collect and R35 delivered...? Let him deliver the parcel!!! Nope - R150 to deliver - in Pta only.
ATOMICSQUIRREL 10 Posted April 5, 2012 oops, misread it. So then you still have to pay R35.00 on top of the R150...? EEEEEkkkkk:wtf:
MsPlod 11 Posted April 5, 2012 oops, misread it. So then you still have to pay R35.00 on top of the R150...? EEEEEkkkkk:wtf: Too many acorns... ??? but no, I think you would only have to pay an extra R35 if you paid COD... Not too sure.
Seeds for Africa 18 Posted April 5, 2012 Correct me if I am wrong but apart from the excessive fees my understanding is that with the CPA, the seller is responsible if something goes awry once it is mailed?
Jacques Kuun 12 Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) Imagine buying from PickandPay and they charged you extra for "handling fees". Edited April 5, 2012 by dstorm grammar
lilythepink 11 Posted April 5, 2012 You've got a point dstorm, but I think the "handling fees" are already built into all supermarkets' prices! Meany supermarkets!

I think you are right SFA, but I'd be prepared to challenge that in court. IMO the post office is charging for a service, the moment they take your parcel from you the responsibility should move to them.

I wonder if anyone will take the SAPO to the CPA and challenge them on the service they offer because sometimes we all get shocking service?

IMO the post office is charging for a service, the moment they take your parcel from you the responsibility should move to them. All logics dictate that the responsibility should move to SAPO but unfortunately at this stage legally thats not the case. It would be good if someone did do a "test" case that would change this. lilythepink 11 Posted April 6, 2012 Well, apparently the Consumer Protection Commission is undated with complaints and is short-staffed, so things take at least 4 months to get sorted out! (Although I must admit that they moved FAST when it came to the recent underhand dealings by Auction Alliance!)
