Hello Lily

The holes do not constitute damage to the block.

The item is a PROOF and the printers punched holes into the stamps to make sure that they could not be used for postage (20 Pounds was a princely sum a hundred years ago – I am sure that you could have mailed a baby elephant for this amount).

But the holes do de-value the item. The normal item (without punch-holes) would have retailed for about R200 000-00. The item as shown should sell for about R16 000-00 to R20 000-00.

So after all this explaining, I still need the hole-remover.

Keep well and regards

Jacques

Hello Mellowred

Now you’ve got me worried.

How did you receive this inside information? Everything that concerns the back of a car should be kept secret.

Keep well and regards

Jacques

Fantastic if the holes don't matter. (I am particularly interested to hear how they will be repaired so please tell us!)

Hello Lily

The holes will not be “repaired”. Even if somebody could do it, the repair would always be visible under a microscope. The ethical part aside.

Keep well and regards

The only April Fool is lily who is far too naive for her own good! But I figured if paintings can be touched up then perhaps stamps could too? Never mind that MrA is killing himself with laughter - again - at my expense!
