Unknown Item

Hi all. Can anyone assist me with what this item is? and what it could be worth? My mother in law gave me this to sell for her. She is about 70 years old and got it when she was 3 years old. It apparently comes from England. It is a wooden platform with a handle with 4 birds on top of it and a ball on a string hanging from it. When you swing it around so that the ball goes in circles, the birds start pecking as if they are feeding. Please see attachement.

I searched Google images (using this search - "birds" "pecking" "toy" "vintage") and found a number of these around...

called various names including: Vintage Wooden Toy Pecking Chickens , Retro Toy Pecking Birds , Chickens Eating Grains Hand Paddle - all sorts of descriptions.

Hi, thanx for that. I wonder if this one of my mother in law also originates from bangladesh, but it seems then to be quite common?

So are Barbie and Lego - but folks still like them - never seen one of these on BoB - sweet toy.

It is definitely a vintage toy and something I remember from my childhood! (I used to wish I owned one!)

Geewhizz - where should it be listed?

I completely see why folks get twitchy that there is no vintage toys section under antiques!!
