As per the Firearms Control Act 2000, Chapter 10, it is illegal to even possess empty shells/cartridges if you don't have a licence.

So strictly speaking, this guy is selling an illegal item.

Kit - INERT MACHINE GUN BELT for sale in Johannesburg (ID:61118083)

Now I've seen ALMOST everything on Bid or Buy! ROFL

I think it`s cool. You can hang it from your car`s mirror or display it where the taxi`s

can have a good look. Or let it hang out of your handbag. Use it as a leash for your dog.

Wear it as a kind of loose belt or necklace. Rattle it when you become impatient with the

sales staff having a chit - chat instead of attending to you.

Ain`t no-one gonna look for trouble with you miss lil.

Surely if the rounds have been properly (and permanently) deactivated there should be no legal issues.

It is still regarded as ammunition, whether deactivated or not. With the "new" FCA, you are not even allowed to have an empty shell if you do not have a licence for it.

But who cares, I'm not going to tell. Just hope nobody else does.

P.S. The new FCA sucks anyway!

Well it's sold for R213.00. Wonder what the buyer intends to do with it?

The definition according to the Act says:

Ammunition - a primer or complete cartridge.

These primers are struck already and there is no powder, so not sure if that qualifies as a complete cartridge...

That is open to debate....
