Recommended Posts

In what pureness of silver (for example 50%, 60 %, 925 sterling silver, etc. ??) where the Second World War Africa Service Medal / Afrika Diens Medalje struck in?

Regards

Pierre

I would say 80% silver.

The WW2 British medals that were issued at the same time to some South African's were 80%

I have no proof though.

"All SA WWII medals were issued from medals produced in the S.A mint in Pretoria and not from British stocks. This is the reason why you do not see the Africa Service Medal on the MoD list.

The SA medals are the same as the British issue but have a gilt finish on them and are named, the British WWII issue medals are not named." SAADF
