Jacques Kuun 12 Posted March 2, 2012 Hello all I need advice please from people in the know…. A client asked me to list a Titta Fasciotti painting (Drakensberg) on BoB. The painting measures about 45cm x 60cm. Suggested asking price is R35 000-00. Is this a fair price? (I have zero knowledge about the commercial value of art or rather zero knowledge about art at all!). Any input would be appreciated. Thanks and regards Jacques
JohnBenn 12 Posted March 2, 2012 Titta Fasciotti has got some excellent paintings that should appeal to BoB buyers. As for the price,I have not seen (in the short time I've been here) paintings sell that high. The fact that the Artist is no longer alive will drive the price higher (irony of being an Artist).Maybe you should try adding a reserve price and see how it goes.If you don't fetch your mark, try an Auction house. Jacques Kuun 12 Posted March 2, 2012 Thanks JohnBenn I first want to make sure that the price is fair / realistic. I am considering both the seller and the prospective buyer. Thanks admin I will definitely get an appraisal from an auction house. Thanks again and regards Jacques

Jacques Kuun 12 Posted March 5, 2012 Thanks again to all I got some advice from an auction house – higher than what the vendor expected. However, there are fees involved (substantially higher than that of BoB) and also a rather long “waiting period”. The BoB listing fee is lower than the cost of a trip to JHB. So, back to our beloved BidorBuy. Keep well and regards Jacques
chriden 10 Posted March 8, 2012 It depends if it is signed T Scotti or Fasciotti. Prices will vary further.
Jacques Kuun 12 Posted March 8, 2012 Hello Chriden Thanks for your reply. It is signed Fasciotti. I have heard in the last week that the T.Scotty normally gets a lower price. Perhaps you can confirm this? Keep well and regards Jacques
