!!! Info needed on medalion !!! - union defence forces - umtata 1931-32

Can anyone help me with regards to info on the following medal?

FRONT: UNION DEFENCE FORCES (top ) No 3 MILITARY DISTRICT ( bottom ) with ex unitae vires shield in middel with antelope on both side and lion on top.

 

BACK: UMTATA 1931-32 C.J.A Fourie plus hallmarks on the bottom: V&S (left) & anchor,lion & H on right with leaves around edges.

 

I have managed to find info with regards to the hallmarks on it. The anchor = Birmingham, lion = silver and H = 1932.

V&S = Vaughn & co.

 

Any info with regards to the history, value etc etc will be much appreciated.
