My new puppy... Completely not what I wanted (what I wanted was a female GSD) but here he is in all his cuteness:

The poor little dude was found on the side of the road in PE - he had a few nasty little habits picked up probably from struggling to survive (snapping, growling when being fed and generally being a bad-tempered little bugger) - but, two weeks on and he's a changed puppy. He even sits nicely before meals - very proud of him!!

And Jazeera loves him - although he gets a bit much for her sometimes...

Lucky little fella that he ended up with you, BAS. Now, what is his name or are you calling for nominations? He looks very sweet but I'm sure you will be having quite a lot to contend with until he's grown up. (My guess is that he's going to be a bit bigger than a spaniel - perhaps call him "Buddy"?)

Hi

Very cute.

When I bought my wife a German Mini Schnauzer she was horrified. She looked them

up on the internet and was convinced I had bought a brak. She remained unconvinced

until he was about 6 months old.

Looks and character are very deceiving when they are puppies. Our Schnauzer is adored

by everyone. She won`t admit it but I know my wife loves him about 50 000 times more

than me. From brak to every term of endearment known to man.

We're having an epic battle with his name. As Jazeera means 'island' in Arabic, I want to call him Java. But the other half keeps on calling him Evil ... Which will NEVER ever be his name!

So I think it's Java. Unless something else pops up.

@Lily - I think you're spot-on with what size he is going to be. And yes, he is going to be a bit of a handful. But neutering later will also help and he has improved so much already. He's a clever little thing and seems to learn easily.

I am just amazed at how quickly a puppy can learn bad habits if not treated well - he must have been about 5-6 weeks when found and already was a bit mean. But, just as quickly, he's a much happier little dog and for about four days now, has not snapped at all. Luckily he is getting well-socialised. All our friends bring their dogs around and he goes to the pub with us where there are usually more dogs than people  and all the dogs rough-house together (knocking over chairs, bumping into everything and everyone) very happily. Am thankful that the owner of the place is a dog-lover and never minds the chaos the dogs cause there!

Just a cute pic of my puppy - his ears are getting sillier as the days go by... Methinks they'll eventually stand up...

Dogs do talk and communicate you just have to listen to them!

Huxley looks adorable - a real Heinz 57 varieties (as opposed to calling him a "pavement special"!!) Can't insult such a dear fellow.

Huxley's the one who deserves gold stars. We've had him only a month and he's:

1. House trained (goes in and out the cat flap at night)

2. Sits before meals

3. Sprints outside when I tell him to get out the bookshop (he's a bit of a book chewer and customer ankle biter...:whistling:)

4. Walks well on the leash and stays by my side when he's off the leash

5. Is just generally a darling - he also has a brilliant sense of humour and teases me constantly

6. Is completely loved by my other pooch - gives her a hard time but has brought fun back into her life after losing her companion of many years

So, all in all, he's fabulous! (And, yes, he will certainly be neutered - everyone does so here anyway not just because it's the right thing to do but because dog fights are a big no-no as they all have to get along in this small town...)

Just an updated pic of Huxley to show off how lovely he is! He is a star at Dog School and a light in my life  The gorgeous gal on the left is Jazeera (the other light in my life) - and she adores her brother and deserves a medal for her patience with him.

His ears have been a source of great amusement - changing direction and angles daily (I have a wealth of photographs). But now they are a magnificent pair of ENORMOUS furry radar apparatus (they make his head look tiny) and are now a source of wonder to all that behold him. Gravity does not play by the rules when it comes to Huxley's ears :toung:
