Packing of Framed Paintings

I posted separately the undermentioned question on the ART Forum.

" I intend listing framed oil paintings.

My problem is the packing of the paintings.

I would be pleased if anyone can advise me of the best way to pack to avoid damage to the painting or the frame and where in Durban the packaging material can be purchased.

Alternatively can anyone advise me if there are any packers in Durban who can do the packing and even perhaps the delivery.

I would be most grateful for advice."

Afterwards I noticed in your column that you were able to offer various enquirers good advice on this and other subjects and wonder whether you may be able to advise me.

I have reached the stage where I must divest myself of goods collected over the years. Living in a small flat I do not have space or the tools to do any intricate packing.

I did obtain a ball park figure from a Durban packer and forwarder who gave me a ball park figure of R 350 for packing and R130 for door to door delivery. This would make it almost prohibitive to try and sell lower priced paintings.

I look forward to any advice you can give me in this matter.

Regards and Compliments of the Season!
