New coin collector

3 posts in this topic

Hi There

This is my 1st post on these forums. :whistling:

I am a very new collector, and need advice.

1. Which coins should I look out for that's good to invest in?

2. Which coins are not so good to invest in.

3. What is better proof/graded?

4. Where do I find coins? Apart from BOB ofc?

5. Does a coin lose a lot of value when there is no COA available?

Sorry for al these questions, thank you in advance.

I am also new to coin collecting, I purchased the book Coin collecting for Dummies before I started collecting and can highly recommend it.It is very US based, but all the fundamentals are in it.

South African Silver coins are affordable and highly collectable, their value increases steadily. Gold is a tricky one, Mandela Gold coins are astronomically priced and make huge returns far in excess of their gold value, Kruger rands are pretty much gold market related. We have some of the most beautiful coins in the world as well as some of the most valuable, best is to do some research on the forums and the auction section.:amuse:
