How is this? Relatively undescribed "stone" with no thumbnail, or photo presently going for over R1400!

Tanzanites - *** 8.61ct ** TANZANITE BLUE violet R92 740 Retail !!!! for sale in Durban (ID:46480607)

No description of cut, could be a heavily included uncut specimen and the buyer will not have any leg to stand on if they complain. Discreet auction too!

Yowch!

Actually against the listing policy of BoB for gemstones (under the Gem selling guidelines), but who is taking note? Nobody... some sellers' get away with murder, and other's are just nailed to the floor! (speaking from experience)

This is NOT policy Janet - it is a guideline... may we suggest you keep your personal agenda off the forum.

We will ask the seller to provide further details, just because something is omitted (intentionally or not), the buyer also has a responsibility to enquire about such things. It does not necessarily mean the seller is trying to mislead or deceive anyone. Sellers are responsible for ensuring their listings are accurate and truthful at all times.

Thank you.

Ok, my mistake Cuan, but I have not brought any personal agenda to the forum, just the truth. Besides, there was no detail in my response thus the "privacy" of the matter. Each person to their own opinion!

Now sitting at over R1500. Looking at the way the bidding is going, it looks as if someone has a high bid on there which someone else is chasing upwards...

Cuan, Janet is quite right - didn't seem to have any personal agenda going, methinks you may just be feeling a little sensitive and short on humour today? LOL!

It is more than a bit frustrating that these sorts of cases are allowed

I really think that the seller - who has been selling for a few years, should know better and should follow the guidelines. After all, what are they there for other than to protect both buyer and seller. I would think that it would be in BoB's best interests to encourage sellers to follow the guidelines.

What concerns me is that the thumbnail clearly states "larged included tanzanite. To me, who is no gem specialist, this would mean that you can clearly see the flaw.

Then in the description you find this wording : Be assured that you are bidding on the very best quality high grade Tanzanite Stones directly from our suppliers in Tanzania.

Janet, I urge you to consider your next words very carefully - you and I both know what you are referring to... this is most definitely not the time or place to have this "discussion", unless you want me to publicly discuss what happened with your sales to a particular buyer and the outcome thereof? Stick to the topic and not bring your personal issues to this post.

Thank you.

Agreed, that is why we have emailed the seller.

You are quite right - I have lost my sense of humour, especially when Janet has to bring her issue into this. Her issue with bidorbuy has nothing to do with this thread, and we have just cause to take the stance we did.

There does not appear to be any impropriety regarding the bidding, no physical links to any of the bidders.

bidorbuy does not "allow" these cases. That is why you can report such issues to us to take action on. That is why we have emailed the seller regarding the cut, clarity etc.

Hi lily

One of the reasons that I don't waste too much of my time on the forum anymore - too many personal matters raised and the autocratic flavour to all matters is not worth even reading

Enjoy the week-end

Yup! I do wonder. Often.

Item about to close at R1700 odd. Hope that whomever buys this "stone" is going to be happy with their purchase.

PS - is there any possibility we could have a "dislike" button as well as the "like" and "share" buttons? LOL!

MsPlod, you certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons when you started this thread! lol

I also wondered about a "dislike" button but then thought I'd be banned if I asked!

As do I, as do I...

If there was a dislike button I would use it far too often... :ninja:

I would LOVE a dislike button, been thinking about that since BoB started the button thing. If there was such an option, there would be a truely honest representation of opinions,.............and I suppose several brewing grudges.:suspicious:

I believe so, Wayne! And that's what is making things so dull on the forum. (Just my humble opinion ...!)

It has been dull but if today's any indication, things are looking up, the forum's busy again. I do however rather enjoy the likes & dislikes too though. Used to think I'm always talking to myself, now I know it's only sometimes...

Your popcorn is too late, Wayne. We had our fill earlier this afternoon.

We're now onto chocolate eclairs. Want one?
