RIP Leo van Zeyl

Hello to all stamp collectors

 

I have just a received an email saying that Leo van Zeyl passed away on 21st July.

 

I can write paragraphs about him and his love for South African philatelic items, especially aerophilately. He was always quick to pass on his knowledge and even quicker with a joke – the last time I spoke to him he had me laughing so much that I literally spilled my cup of coffee.

 

I will suffice with his son, Paul’s words: You’ll remember my father as a gentleman in the richest sense of that word.

 

Rest in peace Leo.

I did not have the privledge of knowing him long but I was always amazed at his sprightly independence and attendance at the Pretoria Stamp Fair.

 

RIP Leo and my condolences to Paul.
