Misleading Listings

Recommended Posts

BeadsandBaubles

I have just received a "grumping" from one of my buyers who states that another seller has filed an SNC against them for non-payment. This is between the buyer and the seller, but I just thought I'd mention it here.

Apparently, according to my buyer, the seller lists products at a certain very low and attractive price - then however in the description it states "minimum of 10 items" misleading the buyer into believing she is getting 10 items for that price. However once the sale was concluded she was emailed 10 times the product cost displayed by the bidorbuy system, with the seller stating that the listing meant that she had to take a minimum of 10 of the products, with the price displayed as the cost of only one.

Listing in this manner is not only misleading but highly unethical. Also the seller scores on listing fees. I have urged the buyer to lay a complaint, which she says she will do - it will be interesting to see if the listings change.

Unfortunately for me, it is also a product in which I have the same types available and at way below this unscrupulous sellers price. I have been wondering why my sales on this have been so low. As far as I can see there are only 2 sellers, myself and this other selling this - and I'm on the losing end.

I agree totally that this is misleading and unethical. If a seller is selling 10 items they must put that in the quantities option which will then show the correct bid price at the time the buyer places the bid.

I hope BOB finds in the favour of this buyer and gives the seller a stern warning.
