You have to be n the look out for the english version - maybe it will assist me in my conquest to the perfect english!!:P:p

(Weet nou nie of "conquest" die regte woord is nie!!!:o)

"Van die hand na die mond val die pap op die grond"

"There is many a slip between the cup and the lip"

 

Meaning: "Op die laaste oomblik kan n saak wat altyd voorspoedig gegaan het, nog n verkeerde loop neem";)

 

By the way Moppies this book has the English translation from the Afrikaans so you can look up the Afrikaans version and translate it to English. Most of these Afrikaans sayings are far more expressive than the English version.
