Natalie_R 10 Posted August 18, 2010 Hello everyone, We are currently in the process of revamping the Art category layout. Please keep an eye out for changes in this section as they may affect where your listings have been placed. We try our very best to keep your listings undisturbed but sometimes it is impossible to do this for every listing. This is especially important for those of you who have automatic re-listings. Please edit the subcategory of your re-listings, if it is affected, so that your items are placed in the relevant category once the changes have been made. The changes are put in place for your benefit and for the benefit of your customers, and we hope you enjoy them once they are in place. Thank you
Pharos 10 Posted August 18, 2010 Hi there I think the new art categories are great, particularly like the "Direct from Artist" category. Now it's just a matter of getting everyone to stick to the correct categories. Well done Artworks and well done Natalie. Ciao pharos

lilythepink 11 Posted August 21, 2010 Another good grief from The Beak! Don't tell me the old man Claerhout is now dispatching his paintings from his eternal resting place? I don't think so ...!
arctor 10 Posted August 21, 2010 Claerhout -- unlikely. The artist -- hmmmm.
artworks 10 Posted August 22, 2010 Art Directly From Artist ..... This Category Is For Art Listed By The Artist Personally. .... Ie The Person Listing Here Is The Artist. This Category Is Not For Dealers, Artist Agents Etc.... And Not For Art That You Purchased Direct From An Artist A Few Years Back. Bidorbuy Should Give Sellers A Few Warnings About Listing In Wrong Categories. If The Sellers Continue To Ignore The Community Watch Or Bob Recommendations For Correct Categories, Then These Sellers Should De De-listed From Bob.
artworks 10 Posted August 22, 2010 Lets Make Life Easy For All Lets Make Life Easy For All : The Art Section Categories Should Be : Paintings (includes Oils, Mixed Media Etc) Watercolours Drawings (includes Pastels, Ink, Etc) Graphics (etchings, Silkscreens, Lithographs, Etc) Photography Digital Sculpture Prints Other Art Supplies No Sub Categories Or Sub Sub Categories, As It Gets Too Complicated For The Average Buyer, Who Has Limited Knowledge Of Art. At Present There Is Allot Of Incorrect Art In Various Categories And This Will Continue. The Best Is To Just List According To The Medium. If You Are Listing In The Art Category And Feel This Is Appropriate, Please Add A Posting Here.
retailrush 10 Posted August 22, 2010 I must say I also get a bit confused when listing items... and sometimes feel I have listed in the wrong place!!

arctor 10 Posted August 22, 2010 Of the 16 or so Claerhouts on sale on Bob yesterday I reckon that about 15 were incorrectly categorized!
Pharos 10 Posted August 22, 2010 Of the 16 or so Claerhouts on sale on Bob yesterday I reckon that about 15 were incorrectly categorized! Would that be because they weren't listed in the "Direct from the Artist" category?
shuvanni 10 Posted August 23, 2010 Hi Artworks I sell under South African Originals - As a South African Art dealer we are not able to compete with mass produced Chinese; Canadian; and other imported paintings that are masterfully executed but only have the value of oil on canvas - there is no other intrinsic value. There are Thousands of imported oils and Local South African Artists will be lost amongs the thousands of imported art. At least to have a catagory that identifies South African Originals allows discerning buyers to go where they are able to find value. Most imported art is not done by one artist - it is done by many artists that add one or two strokes as the conveyor comes by - the art will never become rare and therefore never gain value. At least with a category and sub catagory the discerning buyer will know where to look. You may be in a market for the average buyer - I am certainly not. So life will not be made easier for me and other traders like me. I therefore can not support your notion.

arctor 10 Posted August 23, 2010 Would that be because they weren't listed in the "Direct from the Artist" category? Something along those lines...
Natalie_R 10 Posted August 23, 2010 Hi NAtalie In particular I like the Appraised Art section. Well done !! Thank you everyone, I'm glad you like it, Shuvanni. With all these diverse opinions it can be difficult to come up with a category layout that everyone is comfortable with.
