admin 8 Posted April 26, 2010 Based on the latest feedback we have received from Seacom this afternoon , it now seems likely that the repairs to their undersea cable will only be completed by Friday the 30th of April. The work is being severely hampered by poor weather conditions at sea. Whilst we have been able to secure alternative international bandwidth for the full duration of the repairs, there is some congestion on these links and it is affecting our service. Bandwidth-intensive applications such as peer-to-peer will therefore be de-prioritised until sufficient capacity once again becomes available. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may be causing you and thank you for your patience during this time. We will continue to monitor the situation on an ongoing basis and as and when we receive updates we will notify you via our Free The Web site and via our online outages noticeboard at Network Status Notices Kind regards MWEB Operations
wayjen 10 Posted April 26, 2010 Hi Meneer Andries, welkom terug. Any news on the uncapped status that telkom customers have been getting for a few days now, I hope the glitch in the system lasts until the end of the month.
lilythepink 11 Posted April 26, 2010 Ag no, man, Wayne. I didn't know about the uncapped status with Hellkom. Have just last week paid for an extra gigabyte. Now I feel robbed!
mellowred 10 Posted April 26, 2010 Does that explain why my connection has been up and down during the past week. At times it has been so slow I thought I'd finished my 2nd gig for the month. Excuse my ignorance, but I don't really understand the technical side. I just know that my ISP is dependent on Hellkom.

Cali Craft and Gems 14 Posted July 6, 2010 What is most infuriating is that if you read their second email carefully, it states that most customers will not have international access, which in turn means that some DO have the access! I've given up trying to get through to their call centre (to find out how to set my router "lower" as per their suggestions). All that is left to do is go out in this bitterly cold gale force wind! Yip, I'm nuts, but I need to get out of this office / house! I've managed to persuade hubby that dinner is my treat so we can go anywhere tonight!
