The lower the grade - the higher the perseption of value: an anomaly seldom found in any other trade.

The market had been flooded by these specific coins.

They have no value in high grades, and are inexpensive to obtain.

In order to be competitive sellers start listing sets.

Now people collect sets. of all the grades and they pay prices not related for a poorer quality coin.

It had taken over the hype the Mandela 2000 coin had.

90% of graded 2008 Mandela coins are sold at a loss when sold individually, and speculators loose thousands.

It is the biggest economic blooper of of modern coins to date.

Those who thought they will coin-it had been 'coined'

Initiative and creative ways is the only way of keeping the 'hype' alive and without loosing promising numismatists.

Keeping the collectivity growing, without damaging the market with false promises.

For serious collectors that criticize the sale of these coins (as myself do) we need to sit and think.

This is the Kindergarten of coin collecting, the stepping stone of the future collector.

It is easy to collect and inexpensive. It also is easy to sell.

While they buyers and sellers are buying and selling these coins, they also get exposed to other coins, and more collectible coins.

It is ONLY healthy from both buyers sellers and collectors point of view.

It created markets, and stimulation thereof.

Since the The Mandela frenzy started 3-4 years back,

listings increased from 600 to 16 000, a healthy growth.

The Mandela coins is the single type listed the most.

Give it to the coin...Not the highest priced selling coin, but a coin that had done a LOT to stimulate collecting.
