Steve87 10 Posted March 5, 2010 Online gaming is a great way to play games. Its more entertaining, more dynamic and more challenging! Some may argue against that though, but I think it’s best to try it out first then one can decide whether or not it’s worth the bandwidth. Playing online offers players the opportunity to connect to multiplayer games. First-person shooter games, real-time strategy games and massively multiplayer online games have been made possible with the growth of broadband access especially in the more developed nations. The thing about online gaming is that it is not something that has a heavy presence in South Africa. It is picking up though and I am sure with lower internet costs on the horizon thanks to an increased number of ISPs it could really explode. We already have a number of online gaming networks in the country but of course it could always be much better. Check out Time Cards in bidorbuy Gaming to get your online gaming points. What are your thoughts on the future of online gaming in South Africa?
lilythepink 11 Posted March 5, 2010 The Hellkom package which I have doesn't permit online gambling but I'll hopefully be saying bye-bye to them in August!
Little Miss Muffet 81 Posted March 5, 2010 The Hellkom package which I have doesn't permit online gambling but I'll hopefully be saying bye-bye to them in August! Gambling is not good. Ride on a motorbike into on coming traffic to see who gets out of the way. It you survive. Go gamble.
Kit W 10 Posted March 5, 2010 Hi GEEWHIZZ & lilythepink I think thatSteve87 is referring to GAMING and not gambling - the difference to me is that the latter will cost a fistful of dollars Enjoy the weekend
Technik 10 Posted March 5, 2010 @Steve87 - You meant Gaming, like playing a computer action game - but with other on-line players - didn't you? As opposed to casino-style gambling with slot machines, blackjack etc. @lilythepink - are you serious about your service provider - deciding on your behalf where you may or may not surf? Sorry KitW - same thought same time ;-)
lilythepink 11 Posted March 5, 2010 Yes, of course, Steve 87 meant gaming. It's my typo that turned it into "gambling". So sorry - I meant to type gaming (I do not do gambling!). Hellkom do not allow online gaming on my package with them.
Steve87 10 Posted March 7, 2010 Hi guys! yes i did mean gaming, like multi-player action games online. Thanks Kit W and Technik for clearing that up...We all know who's playing lotto this coming week (lilythepink) , just kidding! @ lily, you really need to say bye-bye to your Hellkom package for denying you access to what you want. lilythepink 11 Posted March 7, 2010 You're right, Steve87! So right. My contract with Hellkom expires in August and then, hopefully, I'll find a SP who lets me do what I want to do without charging me the earth AND not slowing down my pages all the time! Steve87 10 Posted March 25, 2010 Uncapped Internet Ah well!! looks like Christmas and Easter have all come early. Uncapped internet for less than R220. This surely puts smiles on a lot of faces, not just the gamers. But yes online gaming has just got a big boost.
qball 12 Posted March 25, 2010 As per myBB newsletter: "Hi there The last few days have been particularly exciting in the broadband space with MWEB announcing that it is launching affordable uncapped ADSL offerings, and Vox Telecom following suit by undercutting MWEB on bundled uncapped ADSL solutions. Web Africa further offered MyBroadband members very affordable data bundles to say thanks for your continued support over the last few years. This included a 30 GB data bundle for R199 and an 11 GB bundle for R99. Not to be outdone, MTN slashed their Out-of-Bundle rates for mobile broadband bundles by up to 84%, sending a strong message to Vodacom and Cell C that they are planning to compete on price.
