Hi bidorbuy Sellers, Just a quick note to update you on a change that went in today. One of the biggest areas of complaints since we implemented the "new" site is the "Sell an item" listing experience. We have removed the "3-step" process for listing an item. Instead you will now see a very similar experience to the "old" process, where there is a listing page and a confirmation page only. Please let our team know what you think.

Edited half a dozen yet to open listings and forgot to save them. Had to do them again. That mistake would not have been made on the old site. It also asks you to check the terms and conditions box after editing, whereas before you only had to do that when creating the listing.

Except for the listing process that takes three times longer to do on the new site, my biggest other gripe with the new site is the following… When you click on an item you see the title and the thumbnail picture, and that’s all. Below that is a lot of information and links not in any way connected to the listing and many many buyers think that is the end of the listing. They do not realize that they must keep scrolling down to below this useless information (regarding the actual item) to read the full description and see all the pictures relating to the actual item that is on offer. With the old layout, there was never this problem and the actual listing was never interrupted with “other” totally distracting information – see here and how much better and easier it looks and flows.

Can't wait to find out where the two copper pieces were found. No holes in them and importantly in the same area but not the same spot. What a wonderful numismatic detective story these Griquatown tokens are turning out to be, teasing us with steady bits of info through the years.

I don't quite understand the mechanic behind the extend offer function. For example: If I list 1 item on NR auction and I have 3 more of the same item, why shouldn't I be able to set the quantity of items I extend as offers after an auction's end to 3 so that offer ends when the quantity runs out as people accept them? Right now I can only offer 1 quantity so if I extend it to 5 people that's 4 that will be left annoyed as soon as the first person accepts. And then I can't even extend the offer to them again because the system won't let me. That's an annoying function. If there's a way to do it that I don't know please enlighten me BoB family?

Tonight, for the so-called millionth time, I received a question about an item I am listing - the very same question I have been receiving from day one when BoB downgraded to a virtually unworkable system for SELLERS . The person was asking about info that was there - right in front of him - but with the new layout of BidorBuy - he cannot see it and does not realize that he must keep scroll right down to see the whole listing.. With the "new" totally unworkable version, the potential bidder, when scrolling down, stops at the crap Bob ads nonsense half way between the listing itself and the the real info the seller, like me, wants to show potential buyers. This is clearly a copy of the horrendous E-Bay version - but I cannot understand why BoB don not realize their massive mistake. Pierre_Henri31046 100.00% Positive Ratings

Two Griqua Tokens were found this past weekend (23-25 July 2021) at a site mentioned in this thread. They were found at different locations in the Northern Cape and on two different days but on the same site. This is absolutely astonishing news for all interested in the truth about the Griqua coinage.

I do agree that when I noticed this new estimate calculation on the final listing page I also at first thought it would be immediately charged to my account which made me quickly go through my detailed account history to see if there were any charges. The estimate part of this feature needs to be stated clearly as to not alarm people when they list.

The Bid or Buy Q & A system is not very good at allowing us to answer questions with as much detail as we should If I try to add the manufacturer website link to the answer I am flagged and warned (you cannot buy direct from the manufacturer) If I try to add the area for collection (note area only not address no name) I am flagged and warned If I try to add any other details to assist the buyer in any way I am flagged and warned Basically the Q & A system needs to have blunt, empty and one word responses which is unprofessional and vague

The help section: I noticed when I submitted a ticket a couple of weeks ago that the help section had been completely revamped. One of the changes I noticed was that all my previous tickets seemed to have disappeared. I have just now gone back to look for the latest ticket I opened two weeks back and even that seems to have disappeared. It may just be a matter of knowing the right place to look but I cannot find it anywhere.
  17. 1 point
The new ticketing system sends a lot of emails, and before we could follow the email trail to find by order number and trace back. but this is no longer possible because the subject is always a number with wild characters There is a new login created for this and it's definitely not user friendly

Postnet and most couriers stipulate this. I think Postnet do not accept coins for shipping but I may be wrong. It is best not to stipulate items as above. I always just mark my parcels Bric and brac. Less information of contents deters temptation

Thats why they are successful - never had a lost parcel. But their delivery times are longer sometimes up to 10 days. But, Cannot beat service like Bidorbuy stores - we push to deliver the very next day only possible with one or two Courier companies.

I have a request too. In listing pages, When you insert images from image carousel it always pastes the images it to the last part of description at end of the page. "However if the insert can be done where we left the cursor in the middle of description it would assist and reduce a step of moving the images back to middle of description"

I am currently doing research for a new book on very rare South African coins. It soon became clear to me that coin collections that was held by governmental museums in the olden days, are now either stolen, or are hidden so far away that no one knows where they are. I will sponsor a young research student to look into this. Please contact me. Pierre

Thanks, it's bizarre they can't make the listing process all in one page, there is no reason to split it up other than to waste our time.
  28. 1 point
I would not doubt it for one minute that museum items have been stolen with or without the knowledge of the curators. If Ace Magshule's bodyguard and driver, who was found guilty of stealing a Pierneef painting out of Magashule's safe, can get access to items like this, anything is possible. Maybe this forum can be a springboard for co-sponsoring your initiative through crowdfunding this research via South African Numismatic Societies, and who knows, maybe these items will be found and returned where they belong.

For some reason. I can still list on the old system, so not sure why you have this problem. Kind regards Pierre
  30. 1 point
Yes I have. The problem was that I was changing the format from buy now to auction. Doing that did not allow me to keep the original times but instead created a new listing. I decided to keep the listings I wanted to change as buy nows and just alter the prices and was able to do that without the original times changing.

Hi Craig This is very worrying and very, very unfair on all sellers. This should be looked into. We are already being charged a fee on postage Who can afford an extra amount and most sellers are probably unaware of this glitch in the systems I must say my enthusiasm selling on Bidorbuy has really diminished in the last few years as with a number of other sellers
  32. 1 point
With the final order value fee system one needs to be careful about allowing a buyer to combine different orders and make the total payment on one order. "No problem" I told the buyer, "just pay the total (R1130) on the one order." This morning I take one of my occasional looks at my account and saw that a final order value fee of R66 has been deducted from the particular order on which the payment was made, based on the figure of R1130. Now as the success fees had already been automatically deducted when the orders were made I have now effectively ended up paying the success fees a second time. At least mine is a relatively small amount, what if it was a seller selling high ticket items and orders being combined of several thousand rand each? And chances are a lot of sellers wouldn't notice these fees being deducted, unless they were looking carefully at their accounts. I have sent a ticket and hopefully it can be sorted out.

The total for the shipment was R1130 including shipping. According to my calculations bob should have received a total of R74.70 for all fees at the 6.61% commission rate, the success fees for the various items plus the final order value fee based on the shipping charge (of R110) The buyer had a total of nine separate orders from me, as they had been accumulating a pile with me for shipment and payment at a later date. When it came to payment the entire amount of R1130 was paid on one of those nine orders (with my approval, I was not thinking of the consequences of the final order value fee), that resulted in a final order value fee of R66.43 being deducted from just that one order, but of course the success fees are already automatically deducted as soon as the buyer places the order, meaning that with the R66.43 I am now paying a total of R150.36 in fees, instead of the expected R74.70.

Thank you Craig for listening to our concerns. Please update us here when Secure Citizen has updated their Privacy Policy and we'll gladly participate.

Hi Everyone, I wanted to provide some feedback here for you. We have been in touch with Secure Citizen and raised the concerns voiced here. They confirmed that their privacy policy was drafted to cater for other applications outside of what our usage requires. They will be reviewing this to be more clear. bidorbuy has also updated our wording so you are absolutely clear what you are consenting to if ever prompted to verify your identity: Secure Citizen is part-owned by SAFPS, which is the leader in fraud-prevention in South Africa. Every major financial institution in South Africa together with most major retailers in South Africa are members, working together to protect consumers. The institutions we are dealing with are sound and reputable.

The required consent in relation to Secure Citizen processing your personal information is for the sole purpose of verifying your identity. Secure Citizen is required to have a privacy policy that may cover scenarios that fall outside our relationship with them. bidorbuy does not pass on any contact information like phone numbers or email addresses for this purpose so you can rest assured that you will not be signing up for any marketing etc. bidorbuy also does not capture your biometrics ourselves. This is handled by Secure Citizen. The move to implement this service is there to protect Buyers but also Sellers from unauthorised access and other activity. It also allows us to remove the need to request sensitive document like ID documents from our Sellers in the future.

My opinion is that there is no more that they can do hence they dont have a response Stores have a feed file running into Bid or Buy from our sites we dont struggle as much as manual listings Suggestion would be to save a CSV file from your listing and work on that file instead of having to battle with manual listings As for sales and processing etc it is going to be a struggle for time to come nothing we can go about that unfortunately Lucky there is an Old Sellers Menu which I use 100% of the time if they keep that feature we will still manage

I reported this to BoB a few months ago and was informed that apparently the system allocates usernames in that fashion if the new user doesn't have a preferred user id they would like to use or if their preferred username is already in use by another user.
  46. 1 point
More and more I am finding buyers asking me info that is clearly in the listing. They obviously think that the top part is the where the listing ends. This is really frustrating as we, the sellers, put a lot of effort into building a listing that informs the buyer of exactly what they can expect. The BoB developers need to rethink this asap. How many more sales should sellers loose before the management does something about this situation?
  47. 1 point
yes i know ,that why i said u have to leave the order u busy with to do so,on old system u can rate all orders from the buyer while u busy on any one particular order of that buyer. twice as much work,,,,,

I have to agree with you on this - the designer appears to be a drop-down menu lover (which is kind of so last-century) and not actually user friendly. When searching for something in item description or seller info, I simply clicked once on the old site and started typing. Now have to drop down, choose category, click on the space... three clicks. What a waste of time, when they had it so perfectly before.
  49. 1 point
I have to agree - although it was said that suggestions were taken seriously, there don't seem to be any meaningful changes. I don't think the old site will be reopened, so we're going to have to like it or lump it... I timed my relisting time on the old site yesterday (copying an item and making relative changes for another item of the same category), and it took between 50s and 1m.10. Now I cannot even change the title without all the category and other info needing to be re-entered. What a headache. Never mind the three pages to navigate as well. Admittedly the picture loading is superior. Truly the old site was superbly user-friendly - instead of creating something that saves time (which one would think in this day and age is an advancement), the site seems to require a lot more clicks and extra time... I hope I will get used to it, because it will be sad to lose this platform. Very frustrated.
