I revert back to the old format all the time. There are a number of issues that seem to have retrogressed not progressed. If I wanted to log out "log out " was right there on top visible but now we have to find it in a drop down menu like a number of other links like refine etc It is so frustrating and time consuming. The page to upload was all in one,now we have 3 or 4 with the links all over the place UGH!!! This new format must have been developed by a guy who got paid to mess it up by some rival online website. I detest it. Bidorbuy make no effort to communicate with users or address our concerns.☹️

Pierre, with only 29,000 ratings you have no idea what you are talking about, the Bidorbuy team who quite clearly neither use the platform nor test their development releases know better than you. The issues is it looks like they wanted to get "fancy" and make a "unified platform" that works equally bad on desktop browser, mobile and app - they achieved the own goal!! So they took what was a perfectly workable website, dumbed it down and called it a day. From what I have heard is there is an enormous disconnect between the developers and the users, the developers couldn't give 2 shts what the users think, which is rather ironic and unfortunate and hence we sit where we do today.

Good day Please note that this is a standard security measure we have in place to keep bidorbuy safe for buyers and sellers alike. Rest assured that your personal information is safe with us and your credit card details will not be stored. Once we have verified your details, you will be able to purchase without your card being flagged.

Can't wait to find out where the two copper pieces were found. No holes in them and importantly in the same area but not the same spot. What a wonderful numismatic detective story these Griquatown tokens are turning out to be, teasing us with steady bits of info through the years.

I don't quite understand the mechanic behind the extend offer function. For example: If I list 1 item on NR auction and I have 3 more of the same item, why shouldn't I be able to set the quantity of items I extend as offers after an auction's end to 3 so that offer ends when the quantity runs out as people accept them? Right now I can only offer 1 quantity so if I extend it to 5 people that's 4 that will be left annoyed as soon as the first person accepts. And then I can't even extend the offer to them again because the system won't let me. That's an annoying function. If there's a way to do it that I don't know please enlighten me BoB family?

As an "old timer" on BidorBuy , I have been in contact with many, many BidorBuy-sellers over the past year. 100% of them are totally fed-up with the so-called "new site" and have either left for greener pastures or are considering it. Are there any one left of BoB-management that can give the green light to change back to the "old" workable site? In one second it would probably lift the BoB-revenue by probably 50% for years to come. Pierre_Henri29098 100.00% Positive Ratings Joined 10 Jun 2009 Cape Town

Tonight, for the so-called millionth time, I received a question about an item I am listing - the very same question I have been receiving from day one when BoB downgraded to a virtually unworkable system for SELLERS . The person was asking about info that was there - right in front of him - but with the new layout of BidorBuy - he cannot see it and does not realize that he must keep scroll right down to see the whole listing.. With the "new" totally unworkable version, the potential bidder, when scrolling down, stops at the crap Bob ads nonsense half way between the listing itself and the the real info the seller, like me, wants to show potential buyers. This is clearly a copy of the horrendous E-Bay version - but I cannot understand why BoB don not realize their massive mistake. Pierre_Henri31046 100.00% Positive Ratings

Two Griqua Tokens were found this past weekend (23-25 July 2021) at a site mentioned in this thread. They were found at different locations in the Northern Cape and on two different days but on the same site. This is absolutely astonishing news for all interested in the truth about the Griqua coinage.

I do agree that when I noticed this new estimate calculation on the final listing page I also at first thought it would be immediately charged to my account which made me quickly go through my detailed account history to see if there were any charges. The estimate part of this feature needs to be stated clearly as to not alarm people when they list.

Is there any particular reason why when a buyer asks a question the email notification only comes through at the top of the hour and not immediately? It's nothing critical I'm just wondering.

Good morning, Uafrica/Bidorbuy/Courier integration a total disaster and failure. When I started to sell I saw banners on the bidorbuy sellers page for registering with bidorbuy shipping. At first I thought this is the way to go as the integration and service will be great and bidorbuy could assist if something goes wrong as they recommend the shipping to sellers. All started smooth with no problems, until 3 weeks ago. 1. When booking a collection on UAFRICA the tracking number does not automatically pull through to the bidorbuy platform where it used to. 2. When dropping parcels off at the courier branch, items are scanned in but does not track on the couriers website although I am sitting with the signed copies of waybills. 3. Damages to parcels are unbelievable with the courier guy and when submitting claims there are always excuses for payouts. (Im sitting with over R35k worth of damages and had to replace each parcel) 4. I get no assistance from UAFRICA/ THE COURIER GUY nor BIDORBUY!!. 5. I have asked to have the service level agreement between bidorbuy -UAFRICA AN UAFRICA - Couriers just to find out that no service level agreement is in place. 6. I get billed differently to the estimate as mentioned by trade route auctions. I have decided as of today I will not make use of the bidorbuy shipping, UAFRICA nor any of the recommended couriers. I have just heard good reviews about fastway and have opened an account with them. Sellers before making use of the bidorbuy shipping think twice.

It actually could be 21 days. You file an SNC after 7 days. The buyer has 7 days to contest. On the 7th day, buyer replies stating they still plan to pay. They are then given an extra 7 days to pay, holding your stock hostage for 21 days. At the end, they still do not pay

The lot of "permanent" posts by the BoB-team dating from decade ago are just annoying - I am sure everyone are fed up with them - please just delete and remove them .

Also when we go to Q&A it clubs up all questions of one items from different buyers in one block, which sometimes hard to respond as you miss it. Also another problem is the questions doesn't show up date wise etc., I also agree each question must be displayed in the email so we can act fast and respond.
  16. 2 points
I didn't even know the notification emails didn't come through immediately... One would think that would be quite an important feature. I also hate that the question is not included in the mail itself. I much prefer it the way it was years ago when the question came through via mail so I didn't have to log in every time. I second that request to change that back please.

Unfortunately it would seem the developers both don't test their releases nor do they use the site themselves so common sense things like being able to give bulk ratings for buyers is not given any consideration.

Ja well, like I have said numerous times before, the day the Penny finally drop at BoB Headquarters, it will probably be too late. But as long as the old functional format is still available, we will all be able to keep limping along ... Unfortunately, the day the old site is cut off, it will all probably be over for many top-sellers like me. Pierre_Henri29135 100.00% Positive Ratings Joined 10 Jun 2009 Cape Town

It is unbelievable why a successful company like BidorBuy a few years ago, would jeopardize their future by introduce a new look/outlay that less than 10% of their user like. What is even more unbelievable, is that their management must see day-by-day how their earnings have dropped dramatically. Covid19 could be seen as the scrape goat - but as we all know - it is not the problem. The new site is the problem. How many voices must go up before someone somewhere see the problem going on? Dear Collectors, For many years I have been skeptical of the need for a South African Grading Company and its place in what we feel is an international hobby where grading should be left to tried and tested companies like NGC and PCGS. Of late I have submitted well known Gold ZAR Forgeries as described in Eli Levine's Book "The Coinage and Counterfeits of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek" (Purnell 1974) to both NGC and PCGS. The response from the overseas graders showed up a lack of understanding of our numismatic heritage. They merely called the coins forgeries and would not encapsulate them or give them their Eli Levine "code". SANGS at least gave these forgeries their correct assignment and showed us their better understanding of our Numismatic Heritage. I would like to give Glenn Schoeman and his team a sincere thanks for their tireless effort over the last 6 or so years. As South African Collectors, we must look with unbiased minds at SANGS and its certification. In the past, PCGS was prepared to encapsulate and grade the 1900 Pond Forgery (so called "Perfect Forgery") as shown in the pic but now it no longer is part of their population report. How can they arbitrarily remove a coin that was once graded from their records? This inconsistency is not good for their standing in the numismatic community. I also submitted a 1900 Blankpond with Graffiti to NGC in the hope that they would at least encapsulate it without success (please see pic) . SANGS again did this coin justice it deserves. I also have an 1893 Silver Rupee from German East Africa that has been counter-stamped "PM" , in my book indicated "Provincia Mozambique". Two submissions to NGC and one to PCGS did not get this coin encapsulated or recognized as such. When I posted this coin on Facebook in a coin collectors group asking for opinions, a collector posted two coins with the same counterstamp who regarded them as Mozambican. The 1893 Rupee itself is very uncommon with about 4 coins graded between NGC and PCGS. SANGS to their credit recognized the over-stamp and the gradeability of the coin . It seems there is a lack of knowledge overseas of some African coins. Thanks for reading this. Geejay50

Hello everyone I have tentatively booked Saturday 18 September from 3 to 4 the afternoon at my house in Durbanville. Please let me know if you are available. We will have two short talks by Adrian Jordi (15 minutes) and David Flack (5 minutes) respectively. Adrian will talk about the NGC Registry that is free online coin collecting platform where collectors display and organize their coins and compete for best sets. (Adrian have won various “Best Sets” categories in the past and collects both South African coins and bank notes) David will demonstrate to us how a high-end scanning machine works for testing the metal content of coins (and other items). If you have any coins you wish to be tested, please bring them along. We will then have only 1 agenda point and that will be to set up a committee to formally establish the Society. There will also be a small display of coins that circulated at the Cape of Good Hope in the olden days as well as a book and magazine collection relating to South African Numismatics. I will be able to accommodate up to 20 people so please let me know in advance who wish to attend. I will then confirm by sending you my physical address in Durbanville. Remember the date being 15H00 to 16H00 on Saturday 18 September and all attendees will be asked to wear masks and obey the Covid rules. Kind regards Pierre Nortje (Acting Secretary) 6 September 2021

True, this sometimes I let it go as write offs as writing back and forth is time consuming. The same happens when buyers conclude with shipping fee and pay and come to collect want a refund of shipping fee whereby we had to refund the whole shipping fee and we have paid fees on shipping.

HI,NO.the issue is this buyer places order r200 no shipping added so bob deducts fees immediately buyer places order week later r200-plus adds shipping r100-bob takes fees on 200 and 100 shipping so all fees are now paid as due to bob HOWEVER THE BUYER decides to make one payment on 2nd order of R 500 as he does not want to do two payments on seperate orders-this after being asked in terms to do seperate payments but some buyers wil not read those as we all know when the R500 IS PAID ON THE R300 ORDER then the final order fee becomes another 200 over and bob takes fees on this r200 again where they have already taken the fees this have been ongoing for 2 years and i guarantee many sellers arenot even awareof this-the only way we as sellers can correct this is to ask finances to reverse the payemnts and allocate to the 2 orders as r200 and r300 then the fees stay correct and yes i can communicate and ask separate payments but it still happens and trying to get bob to reverse and re allocate is a mission as u first have to explain to staff of the problem as they are also mostly not aware of it,thats why i suck it up and bob makes thousands extra with duplicate fees from many orders that is what im referring to neil

JUST TO CLARIFY as some seem little confused as to free shipping i mentioned. I sell each promotional auction wed and weekends,i have many buyers thatbuy each auction from me i therefore accumulate orders for buyers and as stamps are small items mostly i can do three of 4 orders in one envelope at one postage SO THEREFORE i state pay shipping on one order and use the free shipping option on any other accumulated orders, not to save charges of do BOB in for fees but to make it practical for buyers to purchase cheaper items and save on postage by accumulating orders HOPE that explains what is meant by free shipping...and i sell mainly at r1 auctions so i cannot work shipping into my prices.... BOB and the sellers should rather worry about all the duplicate fees you sellers are not aware of since the final oorder fee came into effect-it costs me quite a few rand each month but to remedy it is not worth the effort i have explained this numerous times but many resellers who buy from me still are not aware of the duplicate fees that arise when multiple orders are paid on one order, this results in duplicate fees and bob is creaming lots die to this as it happens to me regularly and even today it cost me duplicate fees again, once buyer has paid its too much effort to get payment reversed and allocated to the different orders so we just suck it up and bob cannot or will not try and fix this after 2 years neil

Free shipping should really only be used as an incentive to get buyers to buy in bulk, or if it's a high priced item it can be absorbed into the cost. Inflating the price of a cheap to average priced item so that free shipping can be offered is something I am sure many buyers will see through.
  29. 1 point
I have seen it appear after 7 days.. I can use either new (or) old system at the moment.
  30. 1 point
When someone does not pay for an order, I can only file an SNK in 7 days. The buyer then has 7 days in which to contest this. This means that a non paying buyer basically holds my stock hostage for 14 days. As a seller, I feel exceptionally prejudiced by this practice. This entire process should be 2 days maximum. I have had 3 of these incidents in a very short space of time, and am actually considering leaving BoB because of it.

Standard air mail - a lot of alleged non-arrivals amongst the many which do arrive. Prior to Covid19 nonarrivals were very seldom. Registered air mail - constant squeals of "it has been 3 weeks " etc.; even after buyers warned about delays. But - the things do get through eventually. 4,5,6 weeks at Durban hub is not unusual before a thing is "On Route" And then .... operations elsewhere are not likely on the ball 100%. If one has relations in reliable places like UK - it can be worthwhile sending a DHL packet with several sendings for onward transmission via Royal Mail etc. Expensive, but it worked well for me. I bought the UK postage from online auctions at a small fraction of face. That helped to offset the costs and not punish the buyers too badly.

I use courier guy to main centres and the Aramex drop box to regional areas. When I started using courier Courier Guy was R62 to main centres and Aramex was R99, now Courier Guy is R97.50 and Aramex is still R99 to anywhere in the country, by the time of the next increase Aramex will be cheaper and I will only save with the courier guy on local deliveries which cost R69.

The new BidorBuy layout has chased many of the old timers away from selling on BoB :- and participants from this forum. Check the top 10 coin-sellers on BoB and you will see only one or two of the old time sellers left like myself and RANDCOIN. Most others have left for greener pastures for a terrible mistake BoB made with their "new" layout that flopped terribly but no one wants to admit the mistake. So the few left like myself and RANDCOIN are limping along, still in the hope that someone at the top at BoB will just someday realize that enough is enough and change back to s SELLER--friendly BoB Trying to please buyers from Bob's viewpoint is fine - but someone like us (sellers) have to list the items first - and that is nearly impossible for many of us with the new terrible layout. I just do not get it. Anyway, thanks for the many years of all your inputs Ernesto - you are a star and have a brilliant mind and knowledge of all numismatic - but this forum is dead like you said. No use flogging a dead horse because of BoB managements terrible mistake.. Pierre

MDS and the courier guy is on UAfrica and this is going to be UAFRICA downfall. Steve Gleisner is of no use as he does not respond to any mails. I have sent him footage to explain to me how his employees mishandles packages and when submitting claims based on the footage they refuse to pay out. I have opened a account with fastway and will start using them. The courier guy will eventually have their day and more and more customers will realize that they only after our money then offering a service. Negative feedback is piling in on social media and when posting on their FB page with facts because they do not answers mails from me nor Uafrica, they delete the post and block you from their page. Luckily they cant do so on Hellopeter. It is just a head scratcher that Bidorbuy who actually promotes Uafrica all over their website does not get involved. There are no service level agreements in place but I have asked bidorbuy to remove myself from the UAFRICA shipping and as mentioned I will start using fastway couriers. My only question to Bidorbuy is why promote a service which you cannot back up, as this integration is not though properly through nor any agreements in place to protect the buyers and SELLERS. On Friday another Delivery van has been Hi-jacked and R12 000 of goods are(were) on the truck, so we will see what happens to these claims. At the end of the day, the buyers buy a product from the seller and the seller need to ship out the item. Online selling/shipping in SA is nowhere near the Americans. Our couriers rather defraud the clients to make a quick buck and totally forget about customer service. I have a entire list of complaints which was sent through to the Ombudsman and I will not sit back until a full investigation has been done and the courier found guilty for malicious damage of property. In the meantime I will ship out with fastway couriers as I showed the region manager my entire shipping account and he ensured me that I will not have such kind of issues with FASTWAY and I have this on black and white.

Hi Andries. Thank you for the reply. Please explain the reason behind not allowing videos to be embedded into listings? Videos are an important part of showing a customer a product correctly and giving them as much information about such product as possible. Bid or Buy classifies itself as a world class platform, with fees to match the world class competitors. Therefore, you should be providing comparable features with video integration being one of them. I understand if you do not wish to host videos on your servers due to the fact that it will have a massive implication on storage requirements. But to remove the ability to use the "ÉMBED" command in the HTML to place a video into the listing description makes no sense. Embedding a video hosted elsewhere to play directly via the listing description (not being redirected to view on another site) uses no extra resources for Bid or Buy and I cannot see any valid reason why it is disallowed. Please explain to us why an important descriptor tool is refused? Both sellers and our customers would benefit from a video being embedded for certain products. Looking forward to your response

First of all the seller told you it was a mistake. We have to be flexible and not hand out negative ratings on the whim You can politely ask the seller to cancel the order as you only have the funds in your paypal account We are not 2 year olds and handing out a negative rating will only get the sellers back up and move him to respond in the same way Learn that lesson fast Sorry to be so blunt but "A soft answer turns away wrath"

I would definitely have reported it. Treasure trove laws are very fair in England and the finders would have been entitled to the full value of these coins - although 50% would have gone to the landowner/farmer if this was on private property. These laws in England encourage people to display treasure trove finds. The finders suffer no monetary loss and the nation is able to keep intact such incredible finds both for future research and display to the public.

Clicking reply to buyers questions blocks the question you are trying to answer, it happens both on the android app and desktop. This can be a real problem when a buyer asking a complicated question or multiple questions in one question. As per usual it's clear the developers that work at Bidorbuy don't use the platform and barely do any user testing before implementing "upgrades". I find it really irritating that I have to waste my time reporting how poorly these most basic of functions work, is it that hard?? Someone needs to do performance reviews on these developers...

Hi Pierre I remember this question. Perhaps our modern coinage can be taken as a rough indicator. Now I'm aware nickel coins are extremely hard and cannot be compared to soft silver or gold, but hear me out on this. I've mentioned previously that modern minting process leaves a highly mirrored surface on business strikes. Often coins just put into circulation come off as proof like, as can be seen with my many R2 photos on Coin of the day thread. Modern proofs have a higher reflective mirrored field, but only marginally compared to business strikes. Hence for this reason the dies for UNC collector coins like proteas and krugerrands are burnished, to differentiate them from proofs. This being said, if we take our beautiful new R2 released 2019 with all different designs on them. Do we get any of them in circulation today where can say they still have near mirror fields? I don't think so. Even with my collection of normal circulation two rands, which I was still actively pursuing last year. I found it very hard to get good looking 2016 coins (This year has a two defects). I'll see if I can take a few photos tonight to illustrate, but I think we can get a good idea on how long softer gold or silver proofs would lose their fields. regards Robert

Surely Bidorbuy has grown enough to not need buyers and sellers who have a string of negatative ratings that give Bidorbuy a bad name Ebay would have suspended the accounts of some buyers on Bidorbuy long ago It seems a good reputation does not matter to them.

100% I have notified this to Bidorbuy, they should rephrase it to say - sellers will be notified after Admin review is complete.
