A very poor amateur attempt. Please let us keep the old site which we and the buyers are happy with. At least it works and is user friendly which is more than can be said of the new site.

I cant post parcels as i cant see who paid or who hasn't. You are responsible Bidorbuy. Fix youre site. You are really deteriorating the last few months. You making it impossible to sell on Bob and that affects both of us. Its like my 8 year old is programming and designing youre site, But i do think he can do a better job, Employ people that can actually do the job. Or just get rid of who ever did this crap. There is so many problems to mention. Did you contact Wix to get someone to design youre site? Because he cant.

The problem is that BidorBuy has in a way lost contact with the people who pay their salaries – the sellers on BidorBuy. (We have seen the same thing with the current Government who does not realize that the taxpayer is the person who pays the salary of the government employee). It seems that BoB has over-compensated trying to please buyers in every possible way, but have lost contact with the sellers – those hard working guys and girls that keep BoB going every minute of the day. BoB, before you switch off the old link – please do a survey under top-sellers regarding how happy they are with the new BoB-layout. If most are predominantly against the switch, and you proceed regardless, you will probably be the ones that will be switched off. On a more positive note, I think you need say 6 months to panel-beat the new system before you do a seller-survey - THEN you will know if you must switch :– your “tax payers” will give you the thumbs up (or not). And then you will know if the majority that pays your salaries are happy and what you must do to keep BoB successfully afloat. I wish a prosperous 2020 to all BoB–staff and fellow Bobbers. Together we will (and must) succeed. Pierre Pierre_Henri26391 100.00% Positive Ratings

Agreed. Cant open auctions that have current bids on. Horrible to navigate.

Sometimes it goes even beyond, buyer responds / appeals to SNC saying they are planning to pay and they are given further time and still doesn't pay. We are forced to keep the item for over 15 days and end up losing the selling opportunity during that period.

I never write on blogs, but here i think BidorBuy made a real mess of a system that even if it was not perfect it actually worked. To try and re-list 700 plus items per day on this clumsy layout over 2 hours it is a little too much time spent. I agree with the above comments, a Beta version should have been tried out , mostly with the larger sellers, pages are clumsy and cluttered, poor design....etc etc. My 2 cents worth.. Carlos

will be taking my sales to Facebook in the meantime

I had two orders this morning. On the one I was allowed to rate only one sale of the 2 on that order. On the other order I was allowed to rate the buyer for each individual sale. On neither of the 2 was I allowed to rate multiple items in one order at once. It took me almost an hour to process 2 tiny orders which shouldn't have taken me 15 minutes.

The coins all have messages & themes regarding empty promises like freedom for this and rights for that etc etc. It's a pity the SA Mint don't issue a coin with the message "STOP CORRUPTION" and let the government use the income of the coin-sales to actually do something about their endless empty promises ...

I just checked out the OLX site - BidorBuy's only current competitor in SA, and it looks if the same programmer is responsible for both major disasters. (The OLX-site is strangely similar, but even worse than Bob's new layout). BidorBuy - PLEASE just revert back or face the music - currently something like 90+% of those in the forum-pole are urging you to do that. What exactly is difficult about understanding that the overwhelming majority of your current users are horrified ....? Just give us back the old format please. The new one is not sucking, it is a disaster already happening.

The New look is Totally Crap akin to the new look on OLX. Go back to what we had. Who thinks up this type of thing? Idiot!

This new site is awful. I don't even feel like making the effort to list anything on it. But this is Bid or Buy for you and they won't listen to the people who keep them afloat. Once you lose your loyal customers you won't get them back. It's simple, and you don't need a business degree to get it right - listen to what your customers want.
  13. 1 point
Thanks DaveDave2013 I did use the old site. Just thought I would bring it to your attention.

Hi @ATA STAMP CENTRE You can rate multiple users in bulk, and rate one user with multiple orders. Here's the step by step guide on how to do it: 1. Navigate to My Bidorbuy - Selling and click on Feedback: 2. Select the orders you want to include in your bulk rating: 3. Click on Rate Selected: 4. You will have a pop-up where you can write your feedback and save the rating which will apply the same rating to the selected orders: To rate a specific buyer you can use the Refine section on the left: I hope this helps you and please let us know if you encounter any new issues.

Yes there is way too much space between the listings ( and they still can't get the sellers name in) The old site displayed 40 items on a page, the new one has just 24
  18. 1 point
The new pages look too EMPTY with lot of white background. It might take weeks / months to get used to it. I SUGGEST sellers and buyers have to be given a choice to to use older layout.
  19. 1 point
Can only rate per single item and not multiple items per buyer as we were able to this is too time consuming so ratings will not be completed anymore from seller and buyers alike and no true refelction of serivice will be recorder........one thing after another, and this was designed and effected by BOB internal it department...........my sweet geezuz....people who should have an intimate knowledge of the inner workings and needs of sellers and buyers,,,,,i think not,,,, why please ,why did you gentlemen not do a test group first before this live disaster??
  20. 1 point
the people programming this new site have never sold anything on BOB

I the meantime I will take my sales onto the many facebook groups which allow sales, until this issue is resolved

The "new" look is the final nail in the coffin... I for one will be changing over from BoB on it's death bed to an online platform that is actually alive and kicking! (and has a far better reputation than BoB with clients all over the globe - sadly fewer SA buyers but I am certain that with the changes that BoB has made, this other platform will sky rocket!) Bye Bye BoB... my condolences to all affected!

@DaveDave2013 When I click on Sales to (Insert Buyer Name) I cannot see the thumbnails on the orders. Only once I have changed the status of the order the photos become visible.
  25. 1 point
@DaveDave2013 Why can't I rate multiple items within an order? Must I really rate each item individually now? Why does it not auto-complete my rating? Should I now be typing each rating out? Was this new look tested before it was launched?
  26. 1 point
Bidorbuy is one of the most uncustomer focused companies I've experienced, they do what suits the developers and screw the end users, it's a weird choice to make. From what I have seen the new interface is garbage, try finding the rating and how to rate a buyer or edit a rating on your sales list, the interface layout also changes randomly with each new sale . Also the contact number is not listed below the address on an order, why do that.. They appear to do just about zero User Experience testing, maybe it's a bunch of amateurs running the ship.

these are not teething problems, these are poor design faults that could have been foreseen if any one bothered asking, similar to medupi and kusele design flaws,BOB SHEDDING (SELLERS AND BUYERS)IS THE NEW BUZZWORD

taking 3 x longer to list an item... will be spending the day listing on ebay... hope they read the comments and can do some changes to be more user friendly and not so tedious..........
  29. 1 point
and then to group buyers orders together u have to use refine, top right, then back to per buyer ,and then back top right to apply,to use enter buttun does not activate so very very tedious.

Normally when I buy old collectable coins and some of them are either rubbed or badly scratched I do not offer them for sale but accumulate them and scrap them for their precious metal value. When I took coins to be scrapped today I was told it is illegal to melt coins and that they are the property of the Reserve bank This apparently applies to old South African Shillings, gold coins etc. How true is this? Apart from that if a silver R1 is presented to the Reserve bank they will pay the face value of R1

Once a buyer completes order and pays via credit card - Buyer receives an email stating "seller is notified about payment and seller needs to accept payment". Please see attachment which Bidorbuy sends out to buyers. However seller never receives any email about payment, Buyer starts chasing about shipping while seller is unaware of payment. Bidorbuy sends a separate email to buyer asking for ID etc for verification and once it is sent verification can take up to 48 hours. I suggest that the communication sent out to buyers should state that - "Once verification is done sellers will be notified about payment". This will avoid buyers chasing for items before a credit card payment is notified / accepted. Atleast 50% of credit card payments I had to intervene and assist buyers stating verification process etc., this is becoming a routine.

Willie Ras from Mosselbay (Wilize) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on 8 October. He has a 100% positive feedback as both a buyer and seller on BidorBuy, so I have informed BoB Management about the situation and asked them not to allow any negative ratings for non fulfillment of sales (I think there might have been one or two sales not completed) He would certainly have honored all transactions if he was still alive as is shown by his track record on BidorBuy since joining in 2014. Both me and BOB management have tried to make contact with the family but there is no response. If someone knows the family personally and have other ways of communicating with them, please contact me. Pierre

Very sad news. He always had excellent raw coins that were affordable and was a true asset to the hobby. Deepest sympathy to his loved ones.

I've no doubt you have also reached out to the buyer by other means but if you are trying to reach him through the forum there is a very high likelihood that they are not going to see your message. It doesn't seem that many people go onto the forum section these days.

This is true in all instances, with marketing the key creating labels and crazes of all sorts. With a slack economy such as we have at the moment, collectables seems to take a back seat, even with many the low priced items around. But I guess it also shows that the international market is not as big in our collectables as we would like to believe. For instance yesterday a copy of Rev Dower's book, in very good condition and with the Griqua Note in place, sold for $473 .00 (+-R6 600.00) including commission & VAT. I thought this was a very good price. The SA Mint thinking is marketing the Mandela series knowing that it is an item that sits well with tourism and locals, all the while "exaggerating the significance". From a business point of view, what's wrong with that. The irony here is that a socialist leaning government is putting capitalism to good use. The Mint issues local coinage with designs that promote the political landscape of the day on order from the Reserve Bank. As a manufacturer then, is it their place to actively promote past issues.

I think that what was in the past was in the past. Apartheid had a horrific effect on the majority of the population, with the bitter fruit being that the pendulum has now swung the other way and today post-apartheid has seen the legal marginalisation of the minority. To my mind, two wrongs have never made a right. The old South African flag is meaningless to me and many others, and I do not see any reason to either defend it or to obliterate its presence everywhere. However, this flag was the symbol of the State of a time which is now history. One cannot teach the children of today regarding the terrible wrongs that were done under apartheid if facts and features of that era are hidden in a fog of Orwellian knowing-ignorance and forgetfulness. Re coins and notes (and stamps), they do not harm anybody. Add the presence of the old flag on such numismatic material and you have a simple curiosity, a symbol of a dreadful past out of the ashes of which rose the hopes of an entire nation for a bright new future - free of the shackles of racism and discrimination and a wish for prosperity for all. So "no" - I do not see anything wrong in collecting such numismatic material.....

"Because of the total devastation of the twin towers there is virtually nothing left. The few items that have been salvaged will be part of the memorial at the site of the former towers. But remarkably there was a Comex vault located in the basement of the World Trade Center that contained around two hundred million dollars of gold and silver bullion that survived. On the night of November 1, 2001 as the work proceeded on the ground zero clean up the workers made their way to the vault and with little fanfare a caravan of Brinks armored trucks hauled the bullion to another Comex vault. There were Silver, Gold & Platinum American Eagles as well as a few South African KRUGER RANDS, CANADIAN MAPLE LEAVES, AUSTRALIAN NUGGETS, BRITISH SOVEREIGNS, MEXICAN PESOS & A FEW OTHERS. Some of the silver eagles and a small amount of gold were sent directly to the Professional Coin Grading Service. These coins were sealed in their patented tamper resistant holders with a certificate of authentication certifying that the coin is one of the few that was excavated from the World Trade Center site."

Many of us are still searching for the person who designed the original Griqua coins. From old posts on this forum ... "Thomas Halliday was the die-sinker for the Griqua coinage, but most probably not the maker. He might have designed them and he made the dies but for their mintage, one probably has to look elsewhere. In my view, someone like Sir Edward Thomason is a good candidate (he struck silver coinage for Africa in the same period) and also resided at Birmingham at the time - he and Halliday worked closely together. Halliday and Thomason frequently worked together – the one as designer (die-sinker) and the other as the actual minter." But the jury is still out...
